Why is surface preparation so important?

A coating can only perform as well as the surface beneath it. Dust, chalk, salts, grease, loose rust, weak plaster, moisture and incompatible old coatings can all cause premature failure. Cleaning, repair, drying and correct priming are part of the coating system—not optional extras.
