Why is roof paint flaking?

Roof coatings can flake when the underlying surface is chalky, rusty, dirty, damp or poorly bonded, or when strong thermal movement stresses a weak coating system.

Roof coatings can flake when the underlying surface is chalky, rusty, dirty, damp or poorly bonded, or when strong thermal movement stresses a weak coating system. Remove loose coating, clean and stabilise the substrate, treat corrosion or biological growth where present and rebuild the coating system on a sound dry surface.
