Why is paint peeling?

Peeling is an adhesion failure. Common causes include chalk, dust, grease, moisture, loose old paint, an unsuitable primer, painting over silicone or other contamination, or applying incompatible coatings. Remove unsound paint and correct the underlying cause before repainting.
