Why is my water-based paint sticky or streaky after rain?

Shiny or sticky vertical streaks can develop when rain, dew or high humidity contacts a water-based coating before it has fully formed and dried. Avoid painting when rain, dew or condensation is likely during the early drying period. Mild streaking may reduce with weathering and washing; persistent defects may require recoating.
