Poor hiding can result from too few coats, over-thinning, spreading the paint too far, a strong contrast between the old and new colours, unsuitable tools, or colours that naturally have lower hiding such as some bright yellows and reds. Apply the specified number of coats at the correct spreading rate and use a suitable undercoat or base where required.
