Why has a hard topcoat cracked over flexible waterproofing?

Different coatings expand and contract at different rates. A hard or brittle topcoat applied over a soft, flexible waterproofing layer may not accommodate the same movement and can crack or lose adhesion. Use only coating layers that are compatible as a complete system.
