Why does staining bleed through a new coat of paint?
Some materials beneath a new coating can migrate through it and cause staining. Sources can include bitumen, creosote, timber extractives or other soluble contaminants.
Some materials beneath a new coating can migrate through it and cause staining. Sources can include bitumen, creosote, timber extractives or other soluble contaminants. Identify the source first; simply adding more topcoat may not stop the bleed. Use an appropriate isolating or stain-blocking system where compatible.
