Why does paint blister?

Blisters can form from trapped moisture, solvent entrapment, heat, contamination or poor adhesion. On walls and roofs, moisture ingress is a frequent cause. Do not simply puncture and overpaint blisters; trace the source, remove failed coating and repair the substrate first.
