Why does dirt stick to newly painted exterior walls?

Dirt pick-up occurs when dust, pollution or airborne particles adhere easily to a coating that remains soft or tacky, or when the surface texture traps contamination. Slow drying, unsuitable weather, excessive film thickness and some low-sheen or flexible coatings can increase the effect. Let the coating cure fully and clean it according to the product instructions.
