Why are there dirt streaks running down my exterior walls?

Dirt streaks usually form when dust and pollution collect on horizontal ledges, parapets or overhangs and are then washed down the wall by rain or condensation. Clean the surface and correct drainage or detailing where practical. A durable washable exterior coating can make future cleaning easier.
