How do I repaint interior walls that were previously painted with enamel?

Clean the wall thoroughly to remove grease and dirt, then sand the enamel to a uniform matt finish so the next coating can bond. Remove all sanding dust and apply a suitable undercoat or adhesion-promoting primer before applying the new wall paint. Do not apply a water-based topcoat directly over a glossy, unprepared enamel surface.
