How do I prepare new or unpainted roof tiles before painting?

Clean the tiles thoroughly to remove dust, dirt, salts, algae and other contamination, then allow them to dry completely. Porous or friable tiles may need a compatible bonding liquid or primer before the roof coating is applied. Test a small area first if the tile type or previous treatment is uncertain.
