How do I prepare new interior plaster walls before painting?

Make sure the plaster is fully cured, clean, firm and thoroughly dry. Remove dust and loose material, repair cracks or defects, then apply the appropriate ACRO plaster primer or sealer before the finish coats. Gypsum-based or very porous surfaces may need a different primer from new cement plaster, so identify the substrate before painting.
