How can I tell if damp is causing my paint problem?

Damp often shows as persistent dark patches, blistering, peeling, salt deposits, mould growth or staining. The moisture may come from plumbing leaks, roof leaks, failed waterproofing, rising damp, exterior water penetration or condensation. Find and correct the moisture source before repairing and repainting the coating.
