Solids by Volume

The percentage of a liquid coating's volume that remains as dry film after volatiles leave. Volume solids are used to calculate theoretical spreading rate and wet-to-dry film thickness relationships. The method, temperature, film thickness and conditioning should be recorded so results are comparable.
