Surfactant leaching appears as sticky, glossy, brownish or translucent streaks on some water-based coatings, especially when the paint dries in cool, humid or poorly ventilated conditions. Once the paint has fully cured, the residue can often be washed away gently. Improve ventilation and avoid painting when prolonged high humidity is expected.
